About Starescare

Skulls
Original skull
How much do you care with the amount you stare?
Created by Ben Albiston, Starescare turns your selfie into a playful mirror of passing screen time. The face gradually transforms as your chosen allowance runs out.
Sound and educational notes
The heartbeat is a sound effect. Six taps estimate your chosen rhythm; they do not measure or control your heart. General eye, posture and breathing notes are educational, not personal health assessments.
What this version can do
Choose a face style, set a session allowance, personalise the sound rhythm and compare today’s visible app time with yesterday.
This web version cannot read other apps, detect every phone unlock or measure total device screen time. Its daily log records only time this app is visible.
Basic includes the original skull, Grey visitor alien, session allowance, selfie or photo, reset/continue options, standard sound and daily statistics. Premium adds the remaining faces, 2× recharge, personal heartbeat and tempo options, and sound in smaller views.
The Basic/Premium switch is available for trying both modes. There are currently no accounts, prices or in-app purchases.
A little dramatic
Skulls, dissolving faces and dark fantasy imagery are part of the experience. If they feel uncomfortable, stop using the app. Keep the volume comfortable and never use it while driving or doing anything that needs your full attention.
